After less than a semester, Conestoga College is looking to lease space at its Erie Street location in Stratford, Ont. The building at 60 Erie Street first welcomed students in September 2025, but an advertisement on Realtor.ca indicates the college began exploring rental options back in October. The listing describes the building as 11,381 square feet and says it offers “a fully renovated, move-in ready space.” CTV News reached out to Conestoga College, but did not hear back on Tuesday afternoon. The president of the union representing full-time teaching staff, Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 237, believes the school is trying to rent out portions of the building. “We have asked generally as to what might be going on, and we’re told it might be a sublet of some parts of it, not all of it,” Leopold Koff, president of OPSEU Local 237, said. “Although the advertisement certainly seems to be different from that statement.” A sign on the building said the location is only open two days a week. Koff said there are no full-time teaching staff currently assigned to work at the building. The City of Stratford said they were unaware of any planned changes and have not discussed the subject with Conestoga College. Koff said the union hopes the school still views Stratford as a priority. “I think for us to vacate Stratford would be a dereliction of our role as a community college,” he said. Campus consolidation In April of last year, Conestoga College announced plans to consolidate campuses in Kitchener and Brantford. When the leases ended at 274 Colborne Street in Brantford and 49 Frederick Street in Kitchener, activities at those campuses moved to other nearby facilities. The Frederick Street location opened in January 2020.
