Two radio stations affiliated with CTV News Kitchener have announced a big switch. Bounce and Virgin are flipping frequencies. Starting next week, 105.3 will become the new home of Bounce Radio and Virgin Radio will move over to 99.5. The decision to swap the stations was based on research that showed Bounce had a bigger reach outside the region. “When you’re talking about 70s, 80s, 90s and the best of the 2000s, Bounce Radio has it,” Angie Hill, the host of Bounce Mornings with Angie & Sarge, said during an interview with CTV’s Karis Mapp. “105.3, that has an amazingly huge signal, it goes all the way to almost Owen Sound, all the way down the Goderich area, all to Toronto, almost down to Windsor. It’s humongous.” Many of Virgin’s listeners, by comparison, are closer to home “A lot of their audience is very Kitchener-centric,” Hill explained. “And Kitchener, you can get 99.5 no problem at all.” The change begins Tuesday, July 28 at 9 a.m.
