A $40-million LOTTO MAX jackpot remains unclaimed, and the winning ticket expires later this month. The ticket was purchased in Grey County for the Oct. 28 LOTTO MAX draw and must be claimed by that date, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corp. The winning numbers were 6, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43 and 45, with 27 as the bonus number. “OLG has very detailed information about this winning ticket. However, because the ticket was purchased at a lottery retailer, we don’t know the identity of the person or group that purchased it,” a media release read in part. “As with all OLG prize claims, a review process is conducted to determine the rightful ownership of the ticket.” Grey County includes communities such as Owen Sound, Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Flesherton, Markdale, Durham and Hanover. OLG said the ticket could also have been purchased by someone visiting the area, which is a popular destination for tourists and cottagers. “We encourage OLG lottery players to check places where they typically store their tickets, such as clothing pockets, personal accessories (e.g., handbags, backpacks, wallets, and computer bags), vehicle glove compartments or sun visors, and kitchen, bedroom or office drawers.” Tickets can be checked using the OLG app, an in-store self-checker or a lottery terminal at an authorized retailer. If the $40-million prize is not claimed before the deadline, OLG said the money will be returned to players through future bonus games or promotions.
