TORONTO - "Sex and the City" actress Kim Cattrall will take the stage in Toronto later this year.

Mirvish Productions announced this morning that Cattrall will star in the Noel Coward play "Private Lives" in September and October.

After its Toronto run, the production is slated for Broadway.

At a news conference this morning, the British Columbia-raised actress said the play is one of the happiest collaborations of her career. She called bringing it to Canada the "icing on the cake."

For six seasons, Cattrall starred as lusty publicist Samantha Jones on TV's "Sex and the City." Before that, she appeared in movies including "Police Academy," "Mannequin" and "Porky's."

Mirvish also announced that the Broadway smash "Mary Poppins" will hit the city next fall. And "The Blue Dragon," from Quebec maestro Robert Lepage, will be here in early 2012.
