REGINA - A Regina judge ordered extra security for jury members Wednesday after they were threatened for finding two men not guilty of second-degree murder.

Preston Buffalocalf, 22, and Rodney Starr-Goforth, 22, were accused of shooting Vincent Morriseau-Poorman in February 2007.

Morriseau-Poorman, 20, was found bleeding to death in the street outside an apartment building in Fort Qu'appelle.

After the verdict was read, there was a lot of shouting and threats were made against the accused, their relatives, the jury and RCMP.

That's when the judge asked the RCMP to escort the jury members out of court.

Two witnesses testified they saw Buffalocalf shoot Morriseau-Poorman, but many more said they couldn't remember what happened.

The Crown had alleged Starr-Goforth loaded the gun, but Buffalocalf pulled the trigger.

Buffalocalf was one of six prisoners who broke out of the Regina prison on Aug. 24.

He was arrested in Winnipeg on Sept. 9 following a tip to police and a search of a downtown apartment building.

The last escapee was arrested Sept. 23 on the Starblanket First Nation in Saskatchewan.
