WINNIPEG - A Manitoba judge at the centre of a sex scandal is trying to have a lawsuit against her dismissed on the grounds that it fails to disclose a cause for action.

Justice Lori Douglas has filed a statement of defence disputing allegations made by one of her husband's former clients.

Alexander Chapman has sued Douglas, her husband Jack King and the Winnipeg law firm where they worked in 2003, alleging he was pressured to have sex with her, although he never did.

King's lawyer has said King shared explicit photos of his wife with Chapman, but was suffering from depression at the time and did so without her knowledge.

King has said the matter was resolved in 2003 when he paid Chapman $25,000 in exchange for the photos and Chapman's silence.

Chapman has admitted to signing the deal, but he never returned the photos and says he has come forward now because he still feels victimized.
