OTTAWA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to visit the capital on May 31.

The visit comes as Canada urges resumption of Middle East peace talks and after it called expansion of Jewish settlements a barrier to peace.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper last met face-to-face with Netanyahu in New York in September.

Netanyahu's latest visit is bound to prompt anger and protests in some circles.

He's no stranger to Canadian protests.

In 2002, when he was briefly out of politics, he planned to speak at Concordia University in Montreal, but his appearance was cancelled after angry reaction from students and activists.
