HONG KONG - Hong Kong pop star Gillian Chung, caught in a sex photo scandal that shocked the Chinese-speaking world early last year, said she considered suicide after the pictures were leaked on the Internet.

The photos -- taken by her boyfriend, Chinese-Canadian actor-singer Edison Chen -- showed him and eight Hong Kong stars performing sex acts.

The resulting scandal early last year forced Chen and the stars to take a break from the entertainment industry.

Chen resurfaced two weeks ago to testify against the computer technician who allegedly stole the pictures from his laptop.

Another star in the scandal also stepped back into the spotlight.

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung gave an interview to local station i-CABLE Entertainment News Channel last week.

In an interview that aired Saturday, Chung said: "There was one point when I couldn't see my future and thought the only thing I could do was to end my life."

But in her first interview since the scandal, the 28-year-old singer told Hong Kong broadcaster TVB she realized "death wouldn't solve the problem."
