MIAMI -- A report by U.S. military health experts has found no link between several cases of cancer and environmental conditions in an area used for legal proceedings at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre.

The report says there's no evidence that people working in Camp Justice are exposed to carcinogens above standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The study found five cases of cancer among 700 people who worked at the legal compound. But it could not trace any of the cases to conditions at the U.S. base in Cuba.

Four attorneys who worked there filed suit in April against the Department of Defence, challenging an earlier finding that Camp Justice is safe. Their lawyer said Thursday he is reviewing the new report.
