TORONTO -- Aug. 12, 2022 update: This tracker is no longer being maintained but it will continue to be available as an archive. As the collection and dissemination of provincial COVID-19 data has evolved over time, we've made available a new version of the tracker here, which includes U.S. state data.

How do Canadian provinces and territories compare to American states in terms of COVID-19 cases? We’ve calculated reported cases per million people each day of the pandemic to get an idea of how the two countries stack up. During the first two waves of the pandemic, Canada’s highest-reporting regions were low compared to places south of the border. But in the third wave, that’s changed. As of mid April, Canada’s seven-day average reached its highest point of the pandemic.

In a sorted list of the provinces and states (including the territories and Washington, D.C.), Canada's first region, Loading..., ranks Loading... when it comes to recent cases per capita. Currently, Loading... states have fewer average daily cases per millionLoading....

When it comes to all-time peaks for Canada’s provinces and territories, Loading... tops the list for Canada at Loading... overall in terms of highest all-time average daily cases per million people.

Below is an updated list of the states and provinces sorted by the current number of cases being reported. We’re showing the average number of daily cases over a seven day period by default.
