Nearly 3,000 units of STIHL Limited‘s backpack blowers have been recalled in Canada for a fan wheel molding defect that could pose a laceration hazard. “A possible fan wheel molding defect that could result in the fracture of the fan wheel during operation of the blower,” the recall notice published by Health Canada on Dec. 24 said. The company reported that 2,750 units of the affected backpack blowers have been sold in Canada between June 2025 and November 2025. The affected models originally manufactured in the U.S. are: Consumers are advised to stop using any STIHL BR 800 Backpack Blower affected by this recall and return it to a STIHL dealer for inspection to check if a replacement of the fan wheel is needed. The recall notes that any inspected or reworked units will have a black dot adjacent to the serial number, indicating that said unit is safe to continue using and do not need to be returned to a STIHL dealer. Recalled products are prohibited under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act from being redistributed or sold, the recall added. The company has not received any reports of injury in Canada as of Dec. 17, the notice said. Health Canada asks consumers who experience any health or safety incidents related to the use of this recalled product to fill out a consumer report form on its website. Almost 50,000 units of the STIHL BR 800 Backpack Blowers were recalled in the U.S. for the same hazard almost two months ago.
