It appears that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is making inroads with Canada's rock stars.

Earlier this month, Harper posted a photo of himself on the social networking site Twitter, playing music with musician and photographer Bryan Adams at 24 Sussex Dr. in Ottawa.

The photo showed Harper seated at a grand piano with Adams clutching a bass guitar.

According to the caption, they played Adams' hit song "Run to You."

It wasn't the first time Harper has hosted a famous musician at the prime minister's official residence. Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger stopped by for a visit in April.

Last October, Harper also took the stage at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, where he played the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" on piano, accompanied by acclaimed cellist Yo Yo Ma.

The video of that performance was posted online, clips of which were broadcast on national newscasts.

"In some way, the popularity, maybe the artistic credibility of the rock stars might rub off on him," said image consultant Bernard Gauthier.
