Police in Gatineau are trying to piece together what happened at a home in the city's east end, where three bodies were found Friday evening.

Police have not yet identified the deceased. However, family members who stopped by the home on Saguenay Street identified them as Denis and Lucie Lagace, a couple in their 60s, and a man in his 40s who is believed to be Lucie's son.

Investigators are releasing few other details about the case. However, police said Saturday evening that a gun was found at the scene.

Lt. Jean-Francois Beauchamp confirmed to CTV Ottawa that autopsies on the bodies will be conducted on Monday.

He said police will also ask experts to examine "the gun to determine if the gun was used during the incident."

Earlier Saturday, Beauchamp said that police were summoned to the home by a 911 call that was placed by a woman in her 20s, who arrived shortly before 7 p.m. Beauchamp said her relationship to the deceased was unclear.

"It's too early to say exactly what happened inside the home," Beauchamp told The Canadian Press.

"But right now, I can't confirm whether it involved a family dispute or a marital dispute."

Investigators remained at the scene Saturday, where they worked behind police tape that cordoned off the home.

Neighbours said the couple mostly kept to themselves, and they had never noticed trouble at the home. They said they were surprised by the sight of police cars and ambulances on the street late Friday night.

"When we saw so many ambulances and so many policemen we knew it was more than just a heart attack," said neighbour Pierre Crete.
