A family friend has confirmed that the bodies found in a small-town Alberta residence Monday afternoon are that of two young boys, discovered by their father in the home's bathtub.

The friend, who asked to remain unnamed, confirmed to CTV Edmonton that the victims are two-year-old Connor and 11-month-old Jayden.

Early Tuesday, Cpl. Wayne Oakes told CTV.ca that members of the Wetaskiwin RCMP detachment were called to a residence in Millet, Alta., at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Police have not released any information regarding the two deceased individuals, including their names.

However, neighbours told CTV Edmonton that a mother and two young children lived in the home where police have been conducting their investigation.

Distraught neighbours who did not want to be identified publicly said the mother was recently divorced and planning a return to Australia.

The anonymous friend also told CTV the boys' mother had tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge in Edmonton Monday afternoon.

RCMP investigators have not commented on that report, but did issue a news release Tuesday afternoon that said a car found on the south side of Edmonton has "ties to the residence in Millet, Alberta where RCMP are currently investigating two suspicious deaths."

The Edmonton medical examiner had scheduled post-mortem examinations on the two bodies for 1:30 p.m. local time Tuesday to determine the causes of death.

The Town of Millet is located about 20 kilometres south of Edmonton International Airport, and has a population of 2,125 people, according to the town website.
