At least 1,500 homes and businesses have been destroyed in the more than a dozen wildfires burning through California wine country. These before and after images of neighbourhoods and structures show a small part of the devastation in the state.

Fires destroyed an area of the Coffey Park neighbourhood in Santa Rosa, Calif. California Highway Patrol released an aerial image of the suburban neighbourhood around Coffey Park, home to many single-family homes and located about three kilometres outside downtown Santa Rita.



The historic red Fountaingrove Round Barn suffered severe damage when it burned on Monday Oct. 9, 2017, in Santa Rosa, Calif. The barn was built in 1899 and was originally used to house horses that were used in the vineyards.

As fires tear through Napa and Sonoma counties, it’s unknown as of Tuesday just how many vineyards and wineries were damaged or destroyed. Photos show the Signorello Estate winery in Napa engulfed in flames.

The 'after' photo below shows the entrance to the winery as it burned Monday. There are nearly 500 wineries in Napa Valley, which contribute more than US$13 billion to the local economy and more than US$50 billion to the U.S. economy every year, according to the Napa Valley Vintners association.
