Phil Hahn joined CTV News’ digital team in 2004 as a web writer before moving on to become social media producer and web producer. He specializes in data visualizations and news interactives.
Based in Toronto, he’s Editor-In-Chief for CTVNews.ca’s coverage of the 2019 federal election, and a producer for CTV News’ Trend Line podcast. He previously worked in broadcast on the CTV National News assignment desk, and on the election assignment desk for the past four federal elections.
In 2018 he was the gold medal winner at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards in the Best Interactive / Infographic Story category for his web interactive on the Canada C3 expedition, which was also a finalist at that year’s RTDNA Awards. He also won gold in 2017 for his web interactive on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
Phil holds a bachelor's degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and studied journalism at Humber College in Toronto. He also sat on the board of Humber’s Journalism program. He’s also a graduate of the University of King’s College Summer School in Data Journalism in Halifax, and studied web development at Toronto’s HackerYou.
He speaks English and conversational Japanese.
