Canadian singer Bobby Curtola decided not to cancel a show in Peterborough, Ont., days after his wife died in a car crash. Instead, the 1960s pop star dedicated the concert to her.
The singer considered cancelling the Saturday show, which was the final stop on his Christmas tour. His wife, Karyn Rochford, died in a car crash in Nova Scotia on Tuesday.
Instead, the 72-year-old Curtola decided to dedicate the show to Rochford, telling the audience it was something he needed to do.
"If you saw us together, you'd understand. We were one," he told CTV Toronto on Saturday, calling her his biggest fan.
"She was the love of my life, and I just was so lucky."
Through tears, he said the concert was his chance to thank his wife for years of support. He also said he wanted to thank his fans and friends for an outpouring of support since his wife's death.
"It's been absolutely unbelievable."
Curtola rose to prominence during the 1960s with singles including “Hand in Hand with You” and “Fortune Teller.”
