Several well-established Atlantic Canadian rock acts will be facing off this year for album of the year in the 25th East Coast Music Awards.

The rock band Wintersleep has six nominations, with its album Hello Hum in the running for recording of the year.

Wintersleep guitarist Tim D'Eon says he found out when his mother called his Montreal apartment from the family home in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

His band has been a big winner before, but he says it's still exciting and an honour.

Wintersleep is also nominated in the video, group recording, songwriting, rock recording and fan's choice categories.

Matt Mays trails closely behind with five nominations.

The awards gala will cap the East Coast Music Week running from March 6th to March 10th in Halifax.
