Twenty-four hours after screening on U.S. TV on Monday, October 9, the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" trailer totals 120.1 views online worldwide, according to the website Starwars.com.

"Star Wars" episode eight is undoubtedly the most hotly anticipated film coming to theatres this holiday. It comes as no surprise to see the movie trailer score some 120 million views in just 24 hours.

In fact, this second trailer notched up 29.1 million more views than the first trailer, released in April at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando.

That said, "The Last Jedi" still trails the record set by "It," with a movie trailer watched 197 million times in just one day and 246 million times in 36 hours. The next "Star Wars" film also falls behind "The Fate of the Furious," with 139 million views, "Thor: Ragnarok" (136 million) and "Beauty and the Beast" (127.6 million).

"The Last Jedi" does, however, beat "Fifty Shades Darker" (114 million) and franchise predecessor "The Force Awakens" (112 million). Still, "The Force Awakens" beat all of the aforementioned blockbusters at the global box office, grossing more than $2 billion as the third highest-grossing movie of all time, behind "Avatar" and "Titanic."
