Taylor Swift is returning to silver screens in Canada — but this time, it’s all about her new era. Fans of the pop star can celebrate the release of her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, by attending release party screenings at Cineplex locations across Canada next month, the theatre chain recently announced. The Official Release Party of a Showgirl plays Oct. 3-5, offering what Cineplex calls “an intimate celebration” where theatres will be transformed “into an experience.” The company says people can “share in the magic” of Swift’s new chapter. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. local time Tuesday, Sept. 23, for $16 each plus tax. An additional $1.50 booking fee applies for passes purchased online at Cineplex.com. The Showgirl record, set for release on Oct. 3, will be the American singer’s 12th studio album. The music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” will premiere during the release party, along with behind-the-scenes footage and new lyric videos. Attendees can also expect “Taylor’s never-before-seen personal reflections on songs from her (new) album,” Cineplex said in a news release Tuesday. Toronto-based Cineplex says it’s been “almost two years to the date” since Swift was last on its screens — in 2023, the concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour documented the Los Angeles shows of her record-breaking Eras Tour. Flash forward to August, Swift shared how Showgirl took shape. “It was something that I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras Tour,” Swift said while revealing the album cover on an episode of her now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast. She announced her engagement to the NFL star a few weeks later, on Aug. 26, in an Instagram post that quickly went viral. “…Working on this, I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated, so excited to be creating,” Swift said of the new album. Meanwhile, AMC Theatres has also announced that Swift’s approximately 89-minute-long Release Party will play at its Canadian cinemas the same weekend (Oct. 3-5), with tickets on sale now.
