Shiloh Jolie-Pitt steals spotlight at 'Unbroken' movie premiere in boy's suit

All eyes were on Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh earlier this week, after the eight-year-old girl appeared at a movie premiere dressed in a slouchy boy's suit and sporting a short haircut.

Shiloh's appearance at the "Unbroken" movie premiere – which she attended with Pitt and her brothers Maddox and Pax – renewed conversation about her androgynous style of dress and the fact that she likes to be called "John."

Pitt and the three kids attended the Los Angeles premiere Monday without Jolie, because Jolie had fallen ill with the chicken pox.

Shiloh's fashion sense has been widely reported on in the media, and both of her parents have talked about how their blue-eyed daughter wants to be called "John."

In a 2010 interview with the Daily Mail, Jolie said she wasn't overly concerned with the habit.

"I don't think it's for the world to interpret anything. She likes to dress like a boy and wants her hair cut like a boy and she wanted to be called 'John' for a while," she told the paper. "Some kids wear capes and want to be Superman and she wants to be like her brothers. It's who she is. It's been a surprise to us and it's really interesting, but she's so much more than that – she's funny and sweet and pretty."

And in a 2008 interview with Oprah, Pitt also spoke about how his daughter wanted to be referred to as "John."

He told Winfrey that his daughter demands he call her by the boy's name.

"She only wants to be called John. John or Peter, so it's a Peter Pan thing. So we've got to call her John," he said, adding that when he starts to call her by her given name, she corrects him.

"So you know, it's just that kind of stuff that's cute to parents, and it's probably really obnoxious to other people."
