Dogs of all shapes and sizes took over two blocks of 104 Street between Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue for the first annual Dogs on 104 festival. The event saw food, vendors, activities and contests for pups and their humans. “We wanted to get all dogs involved. We normally do this for Beaglemania, so we just incorporated it with all dogs,” said event organizer Heather Johns. The goal for the event is to raise $8,000 to cover veterinarian bills incurred by the Beagles Plus Dog Rescue Society. “his year was probably our worst year for intakes. We had so many, and our debts have just accumulated so much with vets. So we just thought, let’s try and raise as much money as we can to clear our bill by the end of the year,” said Johns.
