Jeopardy! contestants failed to name hockey forward Leon Draisaitl’s team, the Edmonton Oilers, during Tuesday’s episode. The clue provided read, “Leon Draisaitl stars for this northernmost (National Hockey League) team but went to warmer Spain to propose to Celeste Desjardins.” Contestant Ian Morrison, an airline ramp agent originally from Colorado, guessed the Winnipeg Jets. Neither of the other contestants, from Illinois and Maryland, attempted to answer. With a smile, host Ken Jennings revealed, “Edmonton is further north.” The category was “Canadian Girlfriends.” Other clues in the category were about Alanis Morisette, whose “You Oughta Know” hit is rumoured to be about dating Dave Coulier in the 1990s; Rachel McAdams, who has been with American screenwriter and 2001 Price is Right winner Jamie Linden since 2016; and actress Taylor Russell, who dated Harry Styles in 2023-24. The $1,000 clue read, “Director Brian de Palma dated Margot Kidder in the early ’70s before her fame as this reporter for the Daily Planet.” The answer was Lois Lane, Superman’s girlfriend. Draisaitl and Desjardins married in France in early August. With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Evan Klippenstein
