Alberta Health Services is asking the public to not swim or wade in the water at a Sherwood Park campsite. Elevated levels of bacteria that could cause gastrointestinal illness were found during testing of the water at Half Moon Lake Resort Beach. The campground sits on Half Moon Lake, a Strathcona County body of water approximately 35 kilometres east of Edmonton. There is also the possibility of skin, ear and eye infections should people swim in the water. The advisory was issued Friday afternoon and remained in effect until further notice.
