An upper ridge is set to move in over Alberta through the weekend and that that’ll bring Edmonton a string of days with highs near 20 C and mostly clear skies early next week. But, we’re still on the leading edge of that ridge and getting some clouds streaming through on Thursday with an afternoon high near 15 C. A few showers and some mixed precipitation is hitting the foothills and mountain parks and we’ll see some showers across parts of southern Alberta Thursday. All of that precipitation will avoid the Edmonton region and we should stay dry right through to late next week. It’ll be a similar day temperature-wise in Edmonton Saturday. We’ll start out near the freezing mark in the morning and end up in the mid-teens in the afternoon. The upper ridge really starts to make it’s presence felt on Sunday as temperatures get close to 20 C. Morning lows will climb to around 5 C for Monday-Wednesday and each of those days has a chance to hit 20 C in the afternoon. Looking LONG Range, the ridge moves off late in the week and there are early indications that we’ll see some rain Thursday night/Friday. As I mentioned yesterday...it’s a ways off...so let’s see how that pattern develops. But, the models have been pretty consistent over the past day or two. We’re expecting a cooldown to end next week (highs in the 10 C to 14 C range Friday/Saturday). But, the Sunday/Monday of the long weekend should have afternoon highs in the low to mid teens.
