The top youth scientific minds in Canada will be in Edmonton competing for millions of dollars in awards, scholarships and prizes. The 64th Canada-Wide Science Fair is being held at the Edmonton Expo Centre and the University of Alberta in late May. Around 400 student finalists will present STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) projects. The event is put on by Youth Science Canada, a charity that helps Canadian students explore STEM fields, develop problem-solving skills and more. “The fair gives Canada’s top young scientists a platform to share their discoveries and connect with peers from coast to coast to coast who are just as passionate about STEM as they are,” said Reni Barlow, executive director at Youth Science Canada in a news release. The students will compete for $2 million in awards, scholarships and prizes. The event takes place May 23-30, with the public able to attend at the Expo Centre on the 24, 28 and 29. Universities, research institutions, companies and government agencies will also have interactive exhibits on May 28 and 29. Projects can also be seen online.
