Edmonton’s had some warm Septembers in the past few years and we’re at the start of another late-summer warm spell. Meteorological Autumn started Sept. 1, but Astronomical Autumn (when the sun’s most direct ray’s pass over the equator on their way south) doesn’t occur until Tuesday of next week (Sept. 22). So, you could call warm stretch “Summer’s last hurrah”. The 30-year average high for Sept. 17 to 22 is 17 C. But, we’ll be five to 10 C above that mark Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. An Upper Ridge is settling in over the province helping to boost those temperatures AND keeping skies relatively clear. There’s a little ripple in that ridge Saturday that’ll give us some gusty wind and Partly Cloudy skies. But, outside of that - we’re clear through to Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. The ridge does start breaking down by Tue/Wed and a low pressure system will bring us a chance of showers mid-week. We’re also expecting daytime highs to drop back closer to average for Wed/Thu/Fri of next week. No “cold spell”. But...back to the afternoon highs in the mid to upper teens for the end of next week.
