The rain’s done (for a while) and we’ll get a few days to dry out in the Edmonton area and surrouding regions. Today, sunny with a few clouds and temperatures climbing into the low 20s this afternoon. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across northern and northeastern Alberta late today, but that’ll all avoid the Edmonton area. The focus for late-day showers and thunderstorms will be in western Alberta on Thursday. But, again, we’re not anticipating any of those cells to travel far enough east to get to Edmonton. Instead, we’ll be sunny with a few clouds and into the mid 20s Wednesday afternoon. The longest stretch of days in the 20s this June (in Edmonton) is four. We did that back on June 13-16 and we should equal that this week. But, I don’t think we’ll push it to five straight days. Low 20s today, mid-20s Wednesday-Friday, then back to the teens on Saturday. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the region Friday evening and that’ll turn to some steadier rain for Saturday. At this point, it doesn’t look like it’ll be a HUGE dump of rain for the Edmonton area. I always hesitate to puts estimated rainfall totals out THIS early...but...I’m thinking this is more like a 10-30 mm event instead of a 100 mm event like last weekend. This weekend’s heaviest rain looks like it could be further south. We’ll see how it develops, but that’s how it’s looking as of now. Bottom line: Enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather for the next few days. We’ll get back to some cooler and wetter conditions through the weekend.
