Temperatures are set to climb into the mid to upper 20s in Edmonton this week with daytime highs near 30 C toward the end of the week. Most days should have more sun than cloud, but we’re not done with the thunderstorm risk. After a record-setting month of June that saw 271 mm of rain hit Edmonton, July is already wetter than average. The city’s had almost 100 mm of rain as of July 13. Average precipitation for the month is 83 mm. There’s a slight chance of a shower overnight tonight in the Edmonton area. But, it’s Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening that look to be the best chances for some more storms to rumble through the city. Severe storms are not out of the question and given how water-logged the area is, those storms will (once again) pose a threat of overland flooding and the possibility of some flooded underpasses. As always, the storms will be hit-n-miss. So... maybe we luck out and they all slip past the city. Given the way this year has played out so far, I wouldn’t bet on it. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mainly sunny this morning. Partly cloudy this afternoon. High: 24 Tonight - A few clouds.
