A major municipality east of Edmonton is rolling out a new marketing strategy aimed at attracting more visitors. Strathcona County has unveiled a new tourism website and a new slogan: Go Strathco. Outdoor adventures, agritourism, cultural experiences and local culinary offerings are among the attractions the county, centred around Sherwood Park, hopes to promote as it builds on the estimated $150 million tourists contribute to the local economy each year. “It’s really exciting to see the operators learning more about it and becoming more polished and more sophisticated,” said Eiblis Doherty, Strathcona County’s senior economic development officer of tourism, at the Go Strathco launch event Tuesday at Gallery@501 in Sherwood Park. The Go Strathco brand will be used across the county’s marketing efforts, including its annual publication showcasing local businesses and visitor experiences, as well as digital campaigns.
