Crews are fighting a fire at two homes in south Edmonton. A spokesperson for Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) says firefighters were called for a house fire near Cameron Ravine Way and Cameron Ravine Drive at 4:18 p.m. on Tuesday. A second alarm was called in when the fire spread to a second house. “The fire quickly got into the roofs of both houses,” said EFRS district chief Geoff Boulton. “Quickly, both houses started collapsing with the roof and the walls.” Boulton said the homeowners were contacted and were not in their houses at the time of the fire. One home did have three cats and a dog but crews have been unable to enter either residence safely, said the chief. Crews were able to save the properties on the adjacent sides of the fire. Boulton said there were about 32 to 34 firefighters working on putting the fire out. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported. Crews are expected to remain on scene for the next 48 hours monitoring the fire. Smoke from the fire could be seen across the city. With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Jeremy Thompson
