A man accused of going on a crime spree in northwest Edmonton in mid-July is facing multiple charges, according to Edmonton Police Service (EPS). Cody Slade Desjarlais, 32, was previously facing 27 charges, including impaired driving for a collision in October 2024 that involved two women and a child. He made bail on July 4. He now faces more charges after a series of crimes that took place within 24 hours. On the afternoon of July 16, a white sedan was stolen near 129 Avenue and 97 Street. That evening, the same sedan hit a cyclist and fled from the scene. The cyclist survived with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The same man then attacked another person near 132 Avenue and 83 Street with a weapon. That victim was stabbed several times, taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is now in stable condition. Desjarlais was arrested a day later and remains in custody. Desjarlais is now charged with: “This individual posed a serious and unpredictable threat to public safety,” said Eric Stewart with the EPS’ Investigative Response Team. “We remain hopeful that the justice system will hold this individual accountable for his offences.”
