A Red Deer hockey coach and former National Hockey League player has been cleared to coach again after a video of him fighting on a golf course was posted to social media. The fight happened at Alberta Springs Golf Resort, just outside Red Deer, Alta. on July 6. “We take all incidents seriously and approach them with the utmost care,” Jason Stephens of Red Deer Minor Hockey said in a news release. “After thorough discussions and a full review of the matter, we are confident that no further action is required. Coach Tarnasky has shown accountability, and we believe in his ability to move forward and continue his positive contributions to the program.” Video of the fight has been viewed millions of times on social media. A man named Trevor Ogilvie came forward shortly after the video gained traction and said he was the man captured fighting with Tarnasky. “Not my finest moment, I know,” said Ogilvie in a video posted to Facebook. “Played 36 holes of golf, drank way too much and my mouth ran faster than my brain.” “I’d like to apologize to all the folks on the course, anyone caught up in it and anyone who had to deal with me that day,” Ogilvie went on. “I lost my cool, and I’ve learned from it.” RCMP say they were not contacted to investigate the fight.
