The initial paperwork for nine new recall petitions against Alberta MLAs has been approved and is waiting for next steps before signature collection, according to one man documenting the recalls of sitting legislative members. Operation Total Recall has compiled the current signature collections for recall petitions against education minister Demetrios Nicolaides and Airdrie-East MLA Angela Pitt. The operation’s goal, according to its website, is to organize recall petitions for the Members of Legislative Assembly who voted to use the notwithstanding clause to end the teachers’ strike in October. Operation Total Recall does not organize campaigns or initiate any recalls. James Gray with Operation Total Recall told CTV News that nine campaigns were approved by Elections Alberta on Friday night. The following MLAs are listed as having “initial paperwork approved” on the Operation Total Recall website in regards to the recall petition against them as of Saturday: Each MLA now has seven days to respond to the recall petition, after which Elections Alberta will post its approval to its website.
