Elections Alberta said a power outage due to high winds Wednesday afternoon shut down advanced polls at two locations in the Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock electoral division. According to a media release, the power outage impacted the polling station at the Athabasca Seniors Centre and the returning office on 50 Street in Clyde. The voting locations were closed, Elections Alberta said, and all voting materials, ballot boxes and ballots were secured. The power went out at about 2 p.m. and it was expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m. Both those voting stations will remain open for voters past 8 p.m. for as long as they were closed.
