Environment Canada has issued a yellow advisory for blowing snow in Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park that may make roads hard to travel on Friday night through Saturday afternoon. A moderate-level warning appeared on the government website at 3:23 p.m., advising motorists of poor visibility with strong winds and temperatures which, with wind chill, may reach near -35 C by Saturday. The advisory also says travel will most likely be dangerous because of near-zero visibility at times. People are advised to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If driving, the advisory tells motorists to turn on your car’s lights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance. The forecast calls for five to 10 cm of snow Friday night with light, blowing snow ending late Saturday morning.
