Police working to identify man accused of sexual assault in southwest Edmonton

Police are trying to identify a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl in southwest Edmonton.

Two girls reported walking in the river valley west of Grand View Drive and 62 Avenue between 8 and 8:30 p.m. on June 23 when they ran into a man not known to them.

Police say the man walked past them before doubling back and approaching one of the girls from behind, sexually assaulting her. She broke away and ran to a nearby neighbourhood.

Investigators are looking for a man who is approximately 40 years old, 5’6”-5’8” tall, with a thin build and messy brown hair. He is described as Asian or Indigenous and having a noticeable slouch and slow walk. At the time of the assault he was wearing either black sweatpants or jeans.
