Police make arrests in south Edmonton vehicle theft, still looking for 1 suspect

Police say they are looking for a man involved in a vehicle theft in south Edmonton after arresting two others.

The incident saw Gateway Boulevard close just before 2 p.m. on Friday as officers responded to a weapons complaint at a hotel near 39 Avenue.

A news release said police received a report that a man had his vehicle stolen earlier in the afternoon by a group of men, two of whom were inside one of the hotel suites with a firearm.

After officers contained the area, both men in the suite were taken into custody without incident, said the release.

The man whose vehicle was stolen was treated and transported to hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against one of the men arrested at the hotel. The other has since been released. Police are still looking for the stolen vehicle and the third man involved.
