The opening for the Zellers store in Londonderry Mall has been pushed back to next month. In an email to CTV News Edmonton on Friday, mall management said the store would open in October, but did not provide a date. The retailer was first slated to open in the former Hudson’s Bay location on Aug. 29. That date was pushed back to Labour Day. Dozens of people lined up for the opening on Monday, but were eventually turned away by mall security. On Tuesday, mall officials told CTV News it would open sometime this week. A filing made with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada shows Hudson’s Bay transferred Zellers trademarks, including the name and logo, to Les Ailes de la Mode Inc. on Aug. 6. Government records showed Les Ailes de la Mode, a defunct Quebec retailer, is run by business mogul Isaac Benitah. Benitah and his family have run home goods chains Bombay and Bowring as well as clothing chain Fairweather and International Clothiers. With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Craig Ellingson
