Jasper police are looking for a male in connection with a sexual assault on New Year’s morning. The assault happened between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m. at the woman’s house. She did not know her attacker. Police believe the assailant could have followed her to her home near Geikie Street and Pyramid Lake Road, as the victim walked home with friends from Miette Avenue and Patricia Street, stopping at the Circle K on Patricia Street. The victim described the male as possibly Hispanic with olive skin tone, around 5′6″ tall, and having a medium build and black hair and facial hair. No estimated age was provided by police. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a grey sweater and baseball cap, which was left behind in the woman’s home. Anyone with security footage of Miette Avenue, Patricia Street and Geikie Street between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., and of Geikie Street, between Larch Avenue and Pyramid Lake Road, between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m, is asked to review it and submit to police anything of interest.
