A new premium airline is launching new non-stop service between Edmonton and Frankfurt, Germany, at the Edmonton International Airport. Discover Airlines, a Lufthansa Group leisure airline, will offer lie-flat business class and “premium economy” for overnight trips between the two locations, the airport announced Tuesday. “We are delighted to add Edmonton to our route network. As the gateway to the Rocky Mountains, the city will make it even easier for travelers from Europe to experience the breathtaking natural beauty of Western Canada,” said Rupert Kraus, Discover Airlines network director, in a media release. The airline will begin Airbus A330-300 direct overnight flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays next year on June 1. They will run until Oct. 30. “Discover Airlines’ new service to Frankfurt puts Edmonton within easy reach of Europe and the world,” said Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack. “It’s a vote of confidence in our city, and it strengthens our economy by connecting local businesses to global markets, and bringing more visitors to enjoy our festivals, river valley and incredible food scene.” Discover Airlines began operating in 2021. It offers premium amenities for long-haul trips, such as extra carry-on bags, three-course meals and space to lay down and sleep. More information can be found on the Discover Airlines website.
