Saturday evening’s storm halted several outdoor events in Edmonton, including two major performances in the city core. Organizers for one of them have addressed refunds in case it can’t be rescheduled, while those for the other say they’re still assessing the situation. The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival cancelled Saturday’s main performer, Matt Rife, just before he was set to take the stage at Kinsmen Park on the south riverbank. The company’s website says if an event is cancelled without a rescheduled date, buyers can expect a refund of ticket prices and taxes paid to be automatically refunded to the credit card they used. Meanwhile, OEG Sports and Entertainment says it’s looking into what’s next after it cancelled the Neon Skies Festival at the downtown Fan Park at Ice District on Saturday night before featured performer Kesha could take the outdoor stage. Stu Ballantyne, the president and chief operating officer of Rogers Place and Ice District, said in a statement to CTV News Edmonton that they are “reviewing next steps related to the event and will communicate with ticket-holders as soon as additional information is available.” The event’s website says the music festival, staged Friday and Saturday, runs rain or shine, and there’s no posted policy about cancellations.
