Multiple charges including assault and extortion laid against 4 men in 2020 killing

Four people were charged in the death of a man whose body was found in a southeast Edmonton townhouse in 2020.

Four people have been charged with killing a man in Edmonton more than four years ago.

Mohammed Omar Ali, 26, and Amiir Hussen, 27, have been charged with manslaughter, unlawful confinement, assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, extortion, attempted kidnapping and several firearms offences in the death of Rauf Abdu Muzero, 20.

Andrew Barnett, 26, and Zakaria Ahmed, 28, have been charged with second-degree murder.

Muzero’s body was found in a townhouse complex near 34 Avenue and 58 Street at 3 a.m. on Dec. 9, 2020.

An autopsy found he died of blunt force trauma.

On May 6, warrants were issued for the four accused.

Ahmed and Barnett were arrested on May 12 and Omar Ali on May 14.

Hussen was in police custody in Saskatchewan on an unrelated matter and has been transported back to Edmonton.

Investigators aren’t searching for any other suspects.

Barnett has also been charged with first-degree murder in an unrelated fatal shooting in Fort McMurray earlier this year.
