The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has laid charges in a northern RCMP call last year. The police watchdog was called to investigate the use of an officer’s less-lethal baton launcher while responding to a call about another man with a large knife in Atikameg on Sept. 10, 2025. ASIRT says it looked at officer reports and statements in the decision. Const. Tyler Bell was arrested on Thursday and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of trust. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at an Alberta court on Oct. 14. ASIRT says it will release no further details as the matter is before the courts. The agency is responsible for investigating criminal offences involving police officers across the province.
