A motorcyclist was arrested in Fort McMurray after allegedly speeding more than 200 km/hr and fleeing police twice. In a Thursday media release, RCMP said the driver of the black BMW motorcycle was first seen speeding in a 60 km/hr zone in the Thickwood neighbourhood on Tuesday. Mounties said the driver fled when officers attempted a traffic stop. Later, RCMP said officers saw the same motorcyclist going more than 200 km/hr on Highway 63 from downtown. He allegedly fled again when a second traffic stop was attempted. RCMP said officers did not chase the driver either time, to protect public safety. Mounties were able to later find an address associated with the motorcycle and the driver and the bike were found there. Officers arrested the 21-year-old Fort McMurray resident and seized the motorcycle. The driver was charged with two counts of dangerous operation and two counts of flight from a peace officer. He was released and was scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on Sept. 16.
