Temperatures will below a few degrees below average today and Thursday Edmonton. Then, we’ll bounce up around the 5-9 C range for Friday through Sunday, right around average. Beyond the Easter weekend, daytime highs are forecast to be somewhere in the 2-7 C range for next week. So...not overly cold or warm through the first week of this new month. I’m still thinking that should be warm enough (provided we get a bit of sun) to melt down the snow cover to almost nothing by the end of next week. Those deeper snowbanks beside driveways might take a bit longer, but most of the snow should be gone. That said, there IS more fresh snow coming. On average, Edmonton gets about 15 centimetres of snow in the month of April. We’ll get a shot of flurries this evening or late tonight in the Edmonton region and then some periods of light snow through the day Thursday. While we’re very confident that we’ll get SOME snow, snowfall accumulation totals remain highly uncertain, especially in the Edmonton region. We could see as little as 1 or 2c m accumulation - or upwards of 10 cm. The heaviest snow is expected to hit areas from Calgary south to the U.S. border and we’ll probably have some heavier snowfall in parts of western Alberta. In general, less snow is anticipated in eastern Alberta. After Thursday’s snow, we warm up for the weekend. Then...our next chance of snow comes early to mid next week.
