A 52-year-old Evansburg man is facing charges in connection with an incident west of Edmonton that led to the death of a woman last week. On Thursday, Evansburg RCMP got a report at 8:38 a.m. that a man had hit a person with his pick-up truck. The man reportedly put the person in the back of his truck and drove off. Mounties were able to locate the pickup but the driver took off. He was ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated assault and flight from police. The victim, who has been identified as 46-year-old Danielle Sanders, was taken to hospital where she died. An autopsy found her death was a homicide. On Monday, the aggravated assault charge against the man was withdrawn and a charge of manslaughter was issued.
