Mounties in northern Alberta have charged one man with trafficking after responding to a complaint of someone with a handgun in a parking lot. Grande Prairie RCMP found the man sitting in a vehicle at the Eastlink Center on Aug. 27 just after 12 p.m. and determined the firearm was actually a lighter that looked like a handgun. Police say they also found 423 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of cocaine, 1 gram of fentanyl and paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking. A 53-year-old Grande Prairie man was arrested. He was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is set to appear in court on Sept. 16.
