A Ponoka County man is facing six charges after allegedly threatening youth with a handgun and later leading officers on a high-speed police chase in Wetaskiwin County. In a media release Friday, RCMP said the man was wanted in connection with a complaint that he had threatened a boy with a handgun at a local skatepark on Sept. 23. On Oct. 15, Mounties, with support from RCMP Air Services, found the man driving on a rural county road, where he fled from police at a “high rate of speed,” before eventually crashing into a creek. RCMP said the man ran out of the truck and tried to escape, but he was caught by officers on foot. The 25-year-old accused is facing the following charges: He was remanded into custody and appeared in court on Thursday.
