One man is in custody after an altercation at the Jasper Legion on Saturday morning led to another man’s death. Jasper Mounties went to the legion just after 1 a.m. after reports of an altercation, they said in a news release Saturday afternoon. When they arrived, they found a man on the ground in need of medical attention. EMS was called and pronounced him dead on the scene. The man’s identity hasn’t been confirmed but RCMP said they believe he was a Jasper resident. They arrested a second man at the legion and said the investigation is ongoing. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are now in charge of the case. Mounties said they anticipate an update when they know more.
